Parking meters removed by Westminster Council following thefts

They were invented seventy-one years ago. But it seems - time is up for the parking meter. Westminster Council began removing them today. Don't get TOO excited - they're not abolishing the charges. Instead - you'll pay by text. One of the main reasons for the end of the meter - the increase in gangs stealing the takings - by sawing the tops off.
