Pakistan's Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz and his British counterpart Tony Blair signed a long-term development partnership arrangement on Sunday (November 19), to bolster cooperation between the two countries. The arrangement affirms the long-term development partnership between the governments, through the Department for International Development (DFID). DFID is committed to providing development assistance to support to the government of Pakistan to reduce poverty and achieve Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) through its Poverty Reduction Strategy Paper-11 (PRSP-11), and Medium Term Development Framework (MTDF) according to best practice aid effectiveness principles. Earlier, Tony Blair, who arrived in Pakistan on Saturday (November 18), and President General Pervez Musharraf signed a development pact, a 10 year agreement by Britain to support the government of Pakistan.
