PageFlakes snapped up by LiveUniverse

The field of upstarts taking on the giants in the personalized home page market shrank by half today when PageFlakes said it was being acquired by Brad Greenspan's LiveUniverse. Terms weren't disclosed. The San Francisco-based company had raised around $4 million in equity and debt. Although it was roundly praised for its easy-to-use interface, PageFlakes never attracted an audience nearly the size of its main startup competitor, netVibes, and neither of them comes close to the millions of users of the customized search pages of Yahoo and Google. PageFlakes will be rolled into Greenspan's LiveVideo operation, which means PageFlakes users should soon expect more robust video options. CEO Dan Cohen will remain, at least for now, and report to Greenspan. LiveUniverse operates 37 separate sites that attract 55 million unique monthly users. Read this article on Vator.tv
