The North Korea Freedom Coalition promotes the freedom, human rights and dignity of the world's most suffering and persecuted people, the people of North Korea. The NKFC is a nonpartisan group of over 70 American, Korean, Japanese and European organizations including hundreds of individual members ranging in age from elementary school to senior citizens who are committed to helping the people of North Korea. Currently, NKFC is involved in rescuing refugees directly, reaching out to the North Korean people through radio broadcasting and balloon launches, helping the North Korean defector organizations in South Korea, raising awareness of the issues in public, and promoting both individual and government action. The organizations motto is Acta Non Verba "Action Not Words". The NKFC hosts each year North Korea Freedom Week to raise awareness. The first North Korea Freedom event is credited with galvanizing grass roots support for the passage of the North Korea Human Rights Act of 2004.
