New RMV branch opens on Mass. Pike

(NECN: Jennifer Eagan, Charlton, Mass.) - It's a first for the Massachusetts Registry of Motor Vehicles. Monday, a new full service office opened at the Charlton Turnpike rest stop, just off one of the busiest roads in the state. The branch will replace an office in Southbridge. Registrar Rachel Kaprielian says she made the move in the face of a $13 million budget cut. The RMV had been paying about $60,000 per year for the Southbridge office. The new building is rent-free. Customers to the new space had mixed reviews. read more
