Every year Hubert Burda, one of Germany's best-known publishers, invites policymakers and innovators in the IT industry to Digital Life Design, an interdisciplinary conference and networking platform in Munich. This year's conference reflects the current global financial crisis. Its theme is "New Realities," and it is calling on participants to formulate the prospects for their markets and sectors after a tumultuous year. Like many others, the IT industry is worried that turnover will fall, and research and develoment departments are concerned about loss of investment. But there is cause for optimism: the computer industry is known for its ability to reinvent itself. Our reporter Michael Wetzel talked to Suhash Gopinath, a rising star on the Indian digital scene and, at 22, possibly the world's youngest CEO, who is planning to expand his company. Wetzel asked other movers and shakers in the field how they plan to deal with the crisis.
