The 'Full Llove Inn' is a stripped and redesigned Opel Kadett on four columns of 4,5 metres high and can be reached by climbing up the fire-escape-stairs. It houses a comfortable room where guests can stay the night for free, in order to enhance 'Love in the City'. 'Love in the City' is an art project initiated by SKOR (Foundation for Art in Public Space) with the aim to promote a more loving climate in Amsterdam. "It makes sense, I think, because in the car, also a lot of aggression takes place and to level it so high and to invite people to make love in the car, I think it's really nice, Hanne Hagenaars said to Reuters on Wednesday morning, after spending a night in the 'Llove Inn'. "There has been a lot of tension around last years, so I think it was really a good idea," added her partner Hans Bolscher, who had to rush to work. This temporary 'one-star-room' is designed by artist Federico d'Oracio for the 'Love in the City' project and has proved a success, as the 'Love Inn' has been booked in advance for the next six months. Even permission to keep the car on pillars in the middle of the city will have to be extended from the original one-month-period during September. "You can also make sex because it's a strong structure, so it's shaking up very safely, and I think when you're up in the car everybody loves you, when you're driving the car on the road, everybody is against you, everybody hates you, so it was amazing how just by taking off the wheels, everybody loves a car, but it's not a car, it's a one-star room. According to the 'real hotel' manager of LLoyd Hotel, situated just across the street, Japanese tourists are particularly amazed by the Love Inn for a good reason. "Maybe this is also because of the thing they have in Japan, 'love hotels' where you go to make love, so for them it's like the most extreme love hotel they could have imagined and never expected to find in the Netherlands," she said. If local authorities extend the permission as planned, Llove Inn will stay a free one-star-room till the end of February 2007. Since there is no shower in the car, guests check in at Lloyd Hotel across the road and are able to have a shower there. ENDS.
