National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) Issues Updated Asthma Guidelines

The National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) today issued updated clinical guidelines on the diagnosis and management of asthma that stress the importance of improving control of asthma symptoms through ongoing evaluation and adjustments to patients' treatment regimens. To help enhance asthma control, the guidelines recommend physicians assess whether allergic triggers are contributing to asthma attacks and symptoms.
