My Exile is a Protest 1/6

January 12th 2009 Book launch of "My Exile is a Protest" by Benjamin Segobaetso . The book is based on his painful reflection of his struggle for justice in Botswana where he was unjustly imprisoned for being a dissident. It expresses his inner feelings and endeavours to put together broken pieces of his soul in reminiscence of his past. Benjamin notes that the imprisonment was not the root source of his troubles but a symptom of his struggles to survive unjust rules of a corrupt oligarchy and to survive a tribal village notorious for its forced tribal initiation school. After years of dissidence and struggle, Benjamin was eventually taken to a customary court in Mochudi village where his body was whipped, a contradiction to the United Nations Convention against Torture and other Cruel, Inhumane or Degrading Treatment or Punishment. Today, Benjamin is recognized as the founding President of the Green Party of Botswana (www.greenpartyofbotswana.com) which deals with political issues such as the defence of environmental justice, human rights, indigenous cultures, animal welfare and health effects of environmental problems.
