'Mole Man of Hackney': Council concerned bus could fall through roof of tunnel dug under roads

He has been called 'the Mole Man of Hackney'. For the past 40 years, William Lyttle has dug an extensive maze of tunnels - right underneath his million-pound house. Neighbours of the 75-year-old have now started to complain about his incessant digging. And the council is concerned that the street outside is now so unstable, a giant hole could open up and a bus could fall into it. So they have sent builders to secure the site and an engineer will decide whether the house will have to be condemned.
