Michael Schumacher will return to Formula One

Seven times Formula One world champion Michael Schumacher will come out of retirement to replace injured driver Felipe Massa at Ferrari if he passes a fitness test, a team spokesman has said. The German is poised to make a comeback after Massa fractured his skull in an accident at last weekend's Hungarian Grand Prix. The 40 year-old has not driven competitively since the season-ending Brazilian Grand Prix in October 2006. Schumacher has won five of his titles with Ferrari and has been acting as an advisor to the team this season. He will now race in the European Grand Prix in Valencia on August 23. A statement from Ferrari confirmed: "Michael Schumacher said he is ready and, over the next few days, will undertake a specific training programme at the end of which confirmation will be given of his participation in the championship".
