Michael Jackson Auction

Michael Jackson is selling off 2,000 items of memorabilia at a Beverly Hills auction. The Thriller star hired a gang of auctioneers to hunt round his Neverland ranch to find items he could sell off to help pay his debts. Darren Julien, president and CEO of Julien's Auctions. "Last summer, Michael Jackson and his manager had contacted us about clearing out Neverland and putting everything up for auction, that they wanted to sell. "So this is about eight months' worth of work and efforts. It took about 30 guys and ten semi-trailers but we did it. We got it all put together." Auction lots include awards for record sales, antique furniture, a Bentley and mannequins. But the main item is the white glove he wore while performing Billie Jean at the 1983 concert to mark the 25th anniversary of Motown Records. Julien added: "The gloves are some of the best pieces. You can tell that it's heavily worn. It's got some discolouration around the wrist, and some threads that have come undone. "But we have eight gloves in total. Some of the gloves from the Victory tour, but the white glove is the simplest and it's also the most iconic." The glove has an asking price of $15,000 (£10,000), but estimates suggest bidding could reach $100,000 (£67,000).
