Menino has knee surgery after 'misstep'

BOSTON (AP) - Boston Mayor Tom Menino has undergone knee surgery to repair a torn quadriceps tendon sustained in an accident at home. Menino's office announced that the mayor had the two-hour surgery at Brigham and Women's Hospital on Monday after what was called a "misstep" at his home Sunday evening. Dr. Thomas Thornhill said doctors were able to repair the tendon directly back to the bone and did not have to use any supplemental material.
