MEDIA: Michael Grade switches from BBC to become ITV Executive Chairman

The new ITV boss, Michael Grade, is already hinting at big changes for the schedule of Britain's biggest commercial TV station and has said he wants news back in prime time. ITV controversially axed News at Ten, after which it became known as News at When as it lost a fixed slot. It's now scheduled at 10.30, which is later than primetime. Grade is leaving a BBC which may be losing its battle for a real terms increase in the licence fee. A senior government source has said that the Chancellor is adamant any increase be below inflation. Michael Grade knows a thing or two about tough jobs in television. Taking over at ITV is a big challenge even for him. So how will he get on? One man who knows him well is Lord Bragg and he reports on Michael Grade's appointment and the problems he faces.
