Mandatory Evacuations Today

Two rail cars jumped the track and overturned in Lafayette, Louisiana, leaking hydrochloric acid and ethylene oxide, forcing police to evacuate an estimated 3,000 residents within a 1-mile radius of the accident. Residents were told to turn off air conditioners, bring pets, and 48 to 72 hours of clothing and supplies including clothes, medications, folding chairs, blankets, etc. A school in Carencro, Louisiana was set up as a shelter.
