Man shot by police after standoff in Piti, Guam

Monday October 1, 2007: Mindy Fothergill for Kuam News reports of a standoff between police and an Agana Heights man Reynaldo Garcia that ended in his tragedic death. Reynaldo Garcia was shot multiple times. Police are not confirming the number of shots fired, but family members of Reynaldo Garcia estimated as many as nine rounds were discharged. Apparently there were family members at the scene trying to convince the individual to surrender to the police. The incident brought even more pain to the family members, who had just left a viewing for Reynaldo's brother, who passed away last week. An autopsy is likely to be conducted on Tuesday as police continue their investigation. Quote of the Day: "I saw what appeared to be a handgun..." -GPD spokesperson Officer Allan Guzman
