Man charged over 1995 murder

A 34-year-old man has been charged with the murder of Vikki Thompson, Thames Valley Police have said. The 30-year-old mother was found battered at the side of a railway line more than 14 years ago. Mrs Thompson died on August 18 1995, six days after she was attacked while walking her dog down a country lane in Ascott-under-Wychwood, Oxfordshire. The man, who has not been named by police, was arrested in the same village on Wednesday. He will appear at Oxford Crown Court later today.
