Madoff scandal hits charitable groups - 12 MAR 09

Celebrities, pensioners, banks and charities were among those who lost money in the alleged $50bn investment scheme under Bernard Madoff, the former US financier. Madoff is facing a possible 150-year prison term. But charitable organizations, such as Human Rights Watch, say the scandal has already 'destroyed' lives and charitable endeavours. Michelle Alexander, a Human Rights Watch spokeswoman, gives Al Jazeera her story.
