Feisty pop star Lily Allen has apparently suffered a blow to her bid for US success after being dropped from the MTV Video Music Awards. The pop princess was due to appear on a stage with rappers Kanye West and Common at the awards ceremony later this year but problems with her US visa have caused her to reportedly get axed from the show.Lily had her work visa taken away from her when she was detained for six hours and searched at Los Angeles airport by customs and immigration officials. The 22-year-old was also reportedly asked to take a blood and urine test but the outspoken singer has apparently refused and retaliated by hiring big-shot lawyers to ensure she doesn't have to take them. The singer was also questioned about her alleged assault on a photographer in London. The awards are a good way for British artists to get noticed Stateside, with Lily and jazz singer Amy Winehouse being tagged for the Best New Artist award alongside American Idol winner Carrie Underwood and Gym Class Heroes. But it looks like despite being in with a chance to win the gong, the Smile star may have to give her acceptance speech via satellite link.Lily is hoping she will be able to settle the situation, saying: "I don't like letting my fans down and this is a situation that I am sure we can sort out."© Independent Television News Limited 2007.
