Levy Says Jobless Claims Signal Weakening Labor Market

Mickey Levy, chief economist at Bank of America Corp., talks with Bloomberg's Betty Liu from New York about the data on U.S. initial jobless claims and durable-goods orders released today and the government's bank rescue package. The number of Americans filing first-time claims for unemployment benefits rose by 32,000 to 493,000 last week to the highest since September 2001. Orders for U.S. durable goods fell 4.5 percent, more than twice as much as forecast in August. (Source: Bloomberg)
