Leo turns eco warrior

Actor Leonardo DiCaprio has proved there's more to him than just starring opposite beautiful Hollywood starlets.The Blood Diamond actor has turned his hand to saving the world, using his celebrity status to raise awareness about climate change.He follows the likes of Shrek star Cameron Diaz, who uses hybrid cars to reduce her carbon footprint.The keen eco warrior has lent his voice to global warming documentary The 11th Hour.The Hollywood hunk, who has made a second career out of his long-term commitment to environmental issues, takes on the role of narrator in the stylish film.DiCaprio said: "I really wanted to come into this project, taking the role of a concerned citizen and asking questions from people who devote their lives to this subject matter, the great thinkers of the environmental movement, the great scientists."He added: "They really shaped the structure of this movie and I always say when you make a normal movie the director's God, when you make a documentary, God is the directed."The movie, which features experts from around the world, is a hard-hitting exploration into how we live, how we impact the earth's ecosystems, and what can be done to improve the environment.© Independent Television News Limited 2007.
