Beaver asks a hurried Ward for a quarter to buy a notebook. Since he had no change he gives him $1 and tells him to bring back the change. But when Larry explains that he couldn't get his quarter, Beaver lends him the money and even says he will go to the school store and get the notebook for him. When Larry returns he explains that he owed the school fifty cents and the man took Ward's change. As Larry makes his way to repay Beaver, Whitey and Gilbert convince him that they should see a movie instead and then have a soda.
