Judith Hochman, director of cardiovascular clinical research at New York University School of Medicine, talks with Bloomberg's Kathleen Hays from New Orleans about a study on the benefits of stents to patients with heart disease. The findings suggest heart disease should be treated first with cholesterol and blood pressure-lowering medicine rather than with angioplasty, a procedure in which a balloon-tipped catheter opens clogged arteries and stents, tiny mesh tubes, keep them clear.
