Joint US-South Korea drills raise tensions on the Korean Peninsula

Amid escalating tensions around the Korean Peninsula, South Korean and US armed forces have staged over four military exercises in the past week. Both governments claim the drills are to demonstrate how the allies would counter an attack by North Korea.
