A report has found that Metropolitan Police Commisioner Sir Ian Blair was misled by his own police force over the shooting of an innocent man at Stockwell station. Jean Charles de Menezes, a Brazilian electrician, was mistaken for a suspected terrorist who lived in the same block of flats. The Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) 'Stockwell 2' report found that Blair was 'almost totally uninformed' about the events. Sir Ian has apologised once more to de Menezes' family and to the public. He admitted his internal briefings were not good enough but insisted that he had not lied.
