Look and feel beautiful - all for a price at the Tokyo Beauty Expo. They say in ancient Egypt, Queen Cleopatra maintained the beauty of her face by wearing a special mask made by pure gold when she would go to bed every night. In present-day Japan, you can experience something similar and feel like a queen. At a recent beauty expo in Tokyo, what captured people's attention was the "pure gold skin treatment." Applying a gold leaf facial pack, inventors say, will rejuvenate the skin and help remove wrinkles and blemishes as gold accelerates the cell growth of the basal layer of the skin. "My face started feeling warm when they finished applying gold. It feels luxurious and I feel spoiled," Satomi Ogura, 32, said with her face covered with gold leaf. Takao Ishikawa, spokesman for Umo (pronounced YOU-moh) Inc., the Tokyo-based company that provides the gold facial treatment services, says it could be a magic therapy for women. "The effects of gold include anti-aging. It can also remove wrinkles and blemishes that women often worry about most," said Ishikawa. More than 700 exhibitors from 23 countries joined the Beautyworld Japan 2007, Japan's biggest beauty expo. The event also showcases various beauty products and slimming machines.
