Israel Calls On Lebanon To Engage In Bilateral Peace Talks

Israel is interested in direct, bilateral talks with Lebanon in order to reach a peace deal between the two bordering countries. A spokesman from the Prime Minister's office said that every issue of contention would be on the table, including a key border dispute over the Shaba'a Farms, a small piece of land controlled by Israel, the dispute over which is a key sticking point between Israel, Lebanon and Syria. Wednesday's developments came in the midst of a flurry of diplomatic activities in the region, with Israel heading for a ceasefire with Hamas, indirect negotiations with Syria and talks of a pending prisoner swap with Hizbullahd and the release of the two IDF reservists.06/18/08
