All five British soldiers in the Iraq abuse trial have had all charges against them dropped. The soldiers, who served with the Queen's Lancashire Regiment in Basra, were accused of abusing a group of Iraqis - beating them, keeping them cuffed and hooded and deprived of sleep over a 36-hour period. One prisoner, hotel receptionist Baha Musa, later died. Today, charges against the soldiers were dismissed. The court martial judge declared there was 'no case to answer'. Amongst those aquitted was the regiment's commanding officer, the highest ranking serviceman ever to face a military court. He said he was convinced his men 'did enormous good in the city of Basra'. Two other soldiers are still on trial.
