Infected

Arrested in Baltimore? You could receive a death sentence before your trial even begins. According to the Baltimore Sun newspaper, 31 prisoners died in pre-trial detention between 2000 and 2002 at the Baltimore City Detention Center. Why? Prisoner advocates blame a lack of proper health care. Through interviews with ex-prisoners and their family members, Infected presents a devastating account of an American health care system that has denied its clients medication, access to medical staff and their consitutional rights. Co-produced with the Public Justice Center. 18 minutes, 2005
