An Australian accused of sexually molesting and abusing four Indonesian boys went on trial on Thursday (October 5) in the latest pedophile case involving foreigners on the Indonesian island of Lombok. Donald John Storen, 58, could face up to 15 years in jail if found guilty of lewd conduct with four teenage boys aged between 13 and 15 years in June and July this year. During the closed hearing, one of the boys told the court that Storen tried to lure them by promising gifts of a motorbike and mobile phone in return for sexual favours, but after the abuse the defendant refused to hand them over. In the holding cell after the hearing Storen, a former boxing promoter who helped manage Lombok Senggigi Reef Hotel, denied all the allegations. Child protection groups say Lombok island and nearby Bali have been the bases for Australian pedophile rings operating in Indonesia.
