Indonesia: More Ferry Surivors Found

WONG: An update on a deadly Indonesian ferry accident. Two more people have been rescued from stormy seas and taken to hospital today. But heavy rains have now slowed the search for more survivors. STORY: Earlier rescuers managed to pick up a survivor who had been floating at sea since the catastrophe on Sunday the 11th. Authorities say 36 survivors have been rescued. The latest two were treated for dehydration and sun exposure. The ferry with 250 passengers and 17 crewmembers was traveling from Pare-Pare on the west coast of Sulawesi to Samarinda city on Indonesia's side of Borneo island when it ran into bad weather. Since then there has been almost constant bad weather which has been hampering air and sea search missions. Indonesia's Navy and Air Force have been helping by sending their ships and aircraft to look for survivors Authorities are waiting for a cargo ship that is believed to be carrying seven more survivors to a nearby port. The National Meteorology Agency warned of bad weather in the area but officials say that port authorities had given the ferry the go-ahead to leave and conditions were clear when it left. Indonesia's aging transport system has been plagued by a series of disasters in recent years, including ferry and air accidents.
