HEALTH: Midwife job crisis in NHS cuts

The government has denied there is a funding crisis in the NHS, but newly-graduated midwives take a different view. They've been trained at public expense and are now having problems finding work in hospital maternity units. Some NHS trusts facing budget deficits have stopped recruiting staff and have cut spending to balance their books - and it's leaving trained health professionals without jobs.
