HEALTH: Everest mountaineers to test human exposure to low oxygen

British medical research scientists have started preliminary tests on a team of more than 200 volunteers who will climb Mount Everest this Spring. As they ascend, they will be monitored to see how human beings cope with low oxygen levels at high altitudes. The medical team, from University College London, believe this will help them treat people in intensive care, where low oxygen levels are critical.
