Ed Joyce will be hoping to put his knowledge of his former countrymen Ireland when England play them in the World Cup Super Eignts on Friday. England's Ed Joyce said he was looking forward to facing his ex-countrymen Ireland in the World Cup Super Eights match in Guyana on Friday (March 30). Batsman Joyce, who helped Ireland qualify for their first World Cup before changing allegiance to England, said it would be "a strange feeling" playing against his former team mates. "I know eleven or twelve of the guys very well," he said. "A couple of the guys that have come in I haven't seen very much of. Obviously, I'll be able to help out with a few things there. but as I said, you've got to keep things pretty basic against most teams. The same plans work if you're playing against Australia or against Ireland. So I think we'll be keeping it pretty simple. But yeah, I've got a bit of information I can pass on." Joyce has not played for Ireland, whose team are chiefly made up of part-timers, for almost two years now. He said he had received criticism on Irish radio phone-ins but generally people had accepted his ambitious career switch.
