Guadeloupe pay talks suspended

The French Caribbean island has been brought to a standstill after weeks of protests have forced shops, businesses and schools to stay closed. Protesters are asking for a 200-euro monthly increase for poor workers to cope with the rising costs of living on an island that relies heavily on expensive imports.
