A football club in South Africa has become popular for accommodating grannies. 35 elderly women play for the team, having traded their deomestic chores for the football pitch. One player said: "I like to play soccer because it do help us. We were sick, but now our temperatures, our BPs (blood pressures) and everything, since we have started playing the soccer have gone down." The Vakhegula Football Club was founded in 2007 by Beka Ntsanwisi, a well-known community builder. The grannies have since been hooked on the game, and continue to train under coach David Maake. They have also formed a nine-member committee, which deals with the administrative duties of the squad.
