Ghandi items spark frenzy at New York auction - 06 Mar 09

After days of rising anger in India, a handful of Mahatma Gandhi's personal possessions have finally gone under the hammer in New York. In life, Gandhi, the Indian independence leader, shunned the material world. But his meagre personal possessions have created a frenzy. The items sold at auction for $1.8m but the burning question about where they will end up, remains. Al Jazeera's Kristen Saloomey reports.
