GERMANY: MOTOR RACING - Rivalry between Formula One world champion Fernando Alonso and Germany's Michael Schumacher draws thousands of fans to the German grand prix at Hockenheim

The rivalry between Formula One world champion Fernando Alonso and Germany's Michael Schumacher has drawn thousands of fans, most of them German, to the German grand prix at the Hockenheim track. On Saturday (July 29) they watched Schumacher qualify second on the grid for Sunday's race, while Alonso who leads Schumacher in the current points standings, qualified down in seventh place. The Schumacher fans were buying T-shirts, wearing Schumacher and Ferrari hats, and enjoying themselves in the sunshine. Alonso has 96 points to Schumacher's 79 with seven races still to run.
