German-American Cooperation: New IT Engineers for the Economy

That's Hasso Plattner's idea. He's the co-founder of SAP. In 1998 he also founded the Hasso-Plattner-Institute for Software Systems Technology at the University of Potsdam. The center keeps an eye on the economy: Research and training should ideally be geared toward the needs of the IT sector. In 2005 a second institute followed, this time at California's elite Stanford University. Here, Plattner wants to have scientists of different disciplines work together on innovations. Made in Germany reporter Mabel Grundlach went to visit students and researchers in Potsdam. She spoke with Plattner and asked him how companies can profit from the new "design thinking".
