Gellar praises chid-star fame

Despite the recent exploits of her fellow former child-stars, actress Sarah Michelle Gellar has praised her childhood fame. The actress who became famous after starring in Buffy the Vampire Slayer, has said that finding a fame at a young age didn't do her any harm.Instead, the star says that growing up on TV sets when she was younger helped keep her out of trouble.Whilst other childhood stars such as Britney Spears and Lindsay Lohan, all experienced the excesses of showbiz and spent time in rehab, Michelle says she didn't smoke or even drink alcohol until she was 21.The star said: "You don't party when you're on a TV show. You got to bed for ten hours and you learn your lines."Even now the 30-year-old doesn't take things to the extreme, preferring a simple glass of wine with dinner instead of falling out of an LA club drunk.Sarah was discovered by an agent when she was just four-years-old and made her first TV movie a couple of years later, followed by a steady TV and film career.Sarah's latest animated movie, Happily Never After is in the cinemas now.© Independent Television News Limited 2007.
