Mohammad Al-Masri, one of the Fatah negotiators to the ceasefire talks with Hamas, was riding his convoy in the streets of Gaza City when he came under attack from unidentified Palestinian gunmen on Saturday (May 19). Al-Masri, a top Abbas intelligence aide, was unharmed. It was not immediately clear who attacked the convoy. The attack occurred minutes after Hamas and Fatah negotiators agreed in Egyptian-brokered talks to a new ceasefire starting at 1200 GMT. An amateur video obtained by Reuters showed two cars, one carrying al-Masri and another securing his safety, stop in a street while heavy exchange of fire is ongoing. The gunbattle lasted for more than 10 minutes, during which a man was seen fleeing al-Masri's car.
