(NECN) - President-elect Barack Obama has spent most of this week building his economic team, but he has moved on to his national security team. An Obama offcial said that Defense Secretary Robert Gates will stay on the job through 2009. Keeping Gates at the Pentagon fulfills Obama's pledge to have a Republican in his cabinet. Gates, a moderate, has served as Defense Secretary for the past two years. Obama chose James Jones, a retired Marine Corps General, as his national security adviser. Another cabinet appointment is expected from Obama on Wednesday morning.
