FX: Week Ahead 04-11-08

The week ahead in the FX Markets with Haley West from Thomson Financial Transcript: This is a look at the week ahead from Thomson FX Hub. I'm Haley West A busy week of data kicks off on Monday with Retail Sales from New Zealand. In the UK we get the latest reading from the Producer Price Index, while in Europe we have their Industrial Production figures due for release. In the North American session the key data is the US Retail Sales report which will give us an idea how the consumer is reacting to the widespread house price falls. Tuesday is dominated by inflation data. First off we have Q1 New Zealand price data, followed by readings from France and Italy. The UK follows with their Consumer Price Index which will give us an idea how far the Bank of England can cut interest rates. In Germany the all important ZEW (zed eee double u) survey will gauge investor confidence. From the US we have the Empire State manufacturing index, Producer Price Index and the National Association of House Builders survey. The inflation theme continues on Wednesday, starting off with German CPI. This is followed by the UK unemployment data which includes the all important average earnings figures. European final inflation data precedes the US CPI reading, which is followed by important US Housing starts and permits. To round off a busy day of data we have US Industrial Production and Capacity Utilisation. Speeches from Fed Presidents Yellen and Plosser are also scheduled for the North American session. It starts to get a little quieter on Thursday where we start off with Retail Sales from Switzerland. Yet more inflation data is due, this time from Canada before we have the weekly Jobless claims data which has proved to be very volatile recently. The events diary is finished by the release of the Philadelphia Fed manufacturing survey. After such a packed calendar, Friday follows up with German Producer prices. Industrial orders from Italy is up next followed by the UK Public sector borrowing data, before Canadian wholesale sales and inventories round off the week.
