The world's top women golfers, preparing for the Evian Masters, support moves to introduce drug testing. Swedish player Annika Sorenstam and Mexican player Lorena Ochoa told a news conference on Wednesday (July 25) they supported the moves towards testing for drugs in golf. Speaking on the eve of the Evian Masters tournament in the French Alps which begins on Thursday (July 26), the players reacted to Gary Player's comments at the British Open last week. Nine-times major champion Player caused a stir last week by suggesting at least 10 players on the professional circuit used performance-enhancing substances. However, he refused to identify any culprits. "I am on the LPGA for drug testing commission I am very much aware of what is going on. I think right now it's probably needed unfortunately. I support the decision," Annika Sorenstam told a news conference on the eve of the Evian Masers tournament in France. Another one of the favourites for the Players' title this week, Lorena Ochoa of Mexico, said drug testing would begin in 2008. "We are going to do [drug testing] In 2008. I am a member of IEG and I will support the decision [about drug testing]."
