Former Permian Football Player Dies in Midland Shooting

Midland police are investigating the murder of former Permian High School standout and Sul Ross State University football player. Police say 23-year-old Jermaine Swearington was shot at about 4:00 AM outside of the Pleasures Club at 210 South Lee Street. Police say Swearington, who had been shot several times in the chest and legs, died at 11:30 this morning. Officers say they collected more than 30 shell casings from the scene of the shooting.
