For the Glory of God - Doing Business at Andechs Monastery

At the Benedictine monastery Andechs, near Munich, searching for God and searching for business success do not contradict each other. The monks live in accordance with the Bible. At the same time, their monastery is a business - with more than 200 lay employees. The biggest profit is made by the cloister's brewery. Each year, it brews about 1 million 200 thousand liters of wheat beer and dark beer and sells it in all over the world. The monks also have a butcher shop, a liqueur distillery, and farmland. And then there are the one million visitors a year, some of them tourists, some pilgrims. Andechs Monastery has been an important Catholic pilgrimage site since the Middle Ages. Do the monks have any time left for contemplation? A report by Claudia Laszczak.
