Jacksonville, southside; riding out the recent tropical storm Fay, at my house, I vaccumed up some water in my garage and set out a sump pump to take the worst away. I took some video from my office window, choosing a nice gust to show how the trees bent. Then there was a break in the storm, so I went out in the car and saw the local Ravenwood Apartments flooded by a nearby creek that overflowed its banks and flooded cars in the car park. It floods these apartments every time there's a bad rainstorm, but this was worse. I have no idea how these apartments were ever permitted to be built, clearly below flood level. Moving down the road I shot several streams swollen and crossing under the road, then I turned down San Clerc Road to see Goodby's Creek and how it was running over the road. I parked the car and walked down to it, paddled across the bridge and viewed the flood from the other side. Then I went to check on my friend Jane who had not been out of the house in three days, to find their pond full but receeding.
