Ex-EastEnder Tom Ellis latest actor linked to Dr Who role

Former EastEnders actor Tom Ellis is rumoured to be taking over from David Tennant as Dr Who. The actor, who was in the soap for five months in 2006 as Dr Oliver Cousins, is said to be a front runner for the job. The 29-year-old, who is married to Tamzin Outhwaite, briefly appeared in Doctor Who last year and according to reports the show's boss has already been in touch about a more permanent postition. David Tennant announced last week at the National Television Awards, he will bow out as the Time Lord at the end of next year after filming four specials. Other names being linked with the role include 28 Weeks Later star Robert Carlye and David Morrissey who will appear in this year's Dr Who Christmas special.
