European Mobility Week 2007 - Streets for people

The European Mobility Week 2007 was organised in September. This year's theme, "Streets for People", encouraged local authorities to give more space on roads to non- or less-polluting forms of transport such as walking, cycling, using public transport and car-sharing. It promotes a lasting shift towards sustainable mobility. The participating towns and cities, 1,324 in Europe and beyond, have to introduce at least one permanent measure, such as a new cycle lane or public transport service. The campaign is coordinated by three non-governmental organisations-Eurocities, Energie-Cities and Climate Alliance.
