True love knows no bounds and can transcend different lifetimes. Such is the thesis of this 2006 obra maestra Philippine movie directed by Mark Reyes. "Two Souls. Two Time Periods. A Second Chance. For That One Eternal Love." The film involves two pairs of lovers in different times: One pair during the time when the Philippines is under the Spanish colonial rule. The other during the present-day Philippines. Eternity is about a pair of star-crossed lovers Crisanto (Dingdong Dantes) and Milagros (Iza Calzado) who pursue their love despite their families being at odds with each other for years. Crisanto is a half-Spanish mestizo whose father accidentally killed Milagros' rebel father. Vehemently against the couple's relationship is Milagros' mother Chayong (Hilda Coronel) and Padre Miguel (Jaime Fabregas), the friar Chayong is working for. The two insist on pairing Milagros up with the Spanish soldier Capitan de Joya (Bobby Andrews). Crisanto and Milagros eventually decide to elope and escape their sad fate. Unfortunately, Chayong and de Joya catch up with them and in a perverse twist of fate, Crisanto ends up dead. More than a hundred years later, Cholo (Mark Herras) and Maegan (Jennylyn Mercado) found each other and as if by fate, sparks of magic fly between them the moment they met. Soon enough they realize that they've already met in another life -- As Crisanto and Milagros. However, like in their previous life, love between them is forbidden as Cholo's father is to blame for the death of Maegan's father. Can these two lovers finally achieve the love denied in their previous lifetime?
